If your people had been kidnapped from a sovereign nation, beaten, starved, shipped to a foreign land where they refused to honor your marriage vows, or rights to paternity, forced you to practice their religion, speak their language, refused you education or medical care and gave you drafty chicken coops to live in during the bitter winter months. Then finally freed you but gave you no identification, no work, made you continue to be a slave but called you a "sharecropper." Then generally torture you, refuse you the vote, housing, sent you to schools you wouldn't let your dog visit, used law enforcement as a government arm to make your life even more wretched for centuries. I kinda think you and your people might be a wee bit angry and violent, don't you think? Hitler did it. ISIS does it. Convince an ignorant populace "those people" are undesirables, and dangerous. But, if you trust us, we will keep you safe. It is how they nearly conquered the globe.
