It's really all a matter of perspective, isn't it? We think somehow America was great in the past but has now lost its greatness. We tend to shun talking to senior citizens (too demented,) therefore get skewed views of history. We think America was great during the depression, we pulled out and all. But talk to seniors whose parents lived it. You get quite another perspective what humanity, and indeed the government was like back then. Or we call WWII veterans "the best and the greatest generation." Again, speak to seniors whose parents were involved. You might get your eyes opened.
The fact is we live in the greatest land on the planet, at the greatest time to live here. All you have to do is travel globally for a few months to learn that fact. Hell, you should be able to look out your front room window Sunday mornings, coffee in hand and see that! Our problem is a simple one. We are divided, nearly stretched to the breaking point. Half of America honestly believe the other half is somehow against them or trying to deny them something. If you want greatness to continue in this most wondrous land you were born into, only by an accident of chance, then we must stop dividing "us vs. them." One old man's opinion only.
