Searching for small dog

I am looking for a small dog to be a companion for my current dog. He is not himself since my roommate and her dog moved out and I think he needs a friend. Small dogs preferred as I have a small dog door but may consider a medium sized dog if the circumstances are right. I don’t have any specific breed I’m looking for, I just want a dog that will do well with another small dog. Willing to pay a reasonable rehoming fee
