Inaugural Suicide Awareness kickball tournament to honor the life and legacy of Wyndell “Winky” Ricks Now is the time to register for the upcoming kickball tournament to take place October 8, 2022, at 8 a.m. at the Forest Community Park, located at 13900 S. Harrell Ferry Road, Baton Rouge. Please gather your friends, co-workers, and families, to register a team at $15 per person. Teams are welcomed to honor their loved one by support of a team or donation to the event. 100 percent of the proceeds for this tournament will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.   Suicide is the leading cause of death in the United States and was responsible for 46,000 deaths in 2020. When someone we know and love attempts suicide it affects us all as loved ones, co-workers, and the community. It could leave one shocked, angry, guilty, depressed, and anxious. Suicide is preventable and we all have a role to play to save lives and create healthy and strong individuals, families, and communities. We want to strengthen our support systems, more access to suicide care, create and maintain protective environments, and identify and support those who may be at risk.
