++++ PLEASE SHARE++++ African Folk Art from Ethiopia. Over two nights you will paint a 4' x 9" board with Ethiopian themes seen in Ethiopian artwork. For example the Ethiopian cross and the Khat leaf. The panels often display the Khat leaf which is an important cultural plant in the country. Khat has been grown for use as a stimulant for centuries in the Horn of Africa. Khat consumption induces mild euphoria and excitement, similar to that conferred by strong coffee.. Paint , board and finishing material to hang provided .The finished board can be hung.. propped against wall, used as a shelf, laid across table as a center piece, or made into a bench. Use your imagination. No artistic skills needed. We will have a basic design out lined in chalk . You can use stencils to add to the design . You can wipe off all or parts of the chalk design outline and do your own thing. The first night is to design and paint. The second night just one hour to add top coat finish and hardware to hang. If you want more time to paint the second night you can paint and come in at a later date hours to finish top coat and hardware. You will also have Afrocentric stencils to use in your design like the Adinkra symbols of Ghana and Mud Cloth pattern of Central Africa. While painting we will discus African art it symbols and influences. This will be be a fun and educational night. Refreshments provided.
