The Cathedral Area neighborhood of Joliet, IL is an historic tree-lined community that contains an incredible array of homes representing over a dozen architectural styles. Every other year, CAPA-Cathedral Area Preservation Association-coordinates with homeowners to organize a ticketed tour of some of the area homes. This event, the Housewalk, has been on hiatus because of the pandemic. But, it is back this year and will be better than ever as the Housewalk Speakeasy. What is the Housewalk Speakeasy? Essentially, it's the Housewalk with signature cocktails at each home along with a speakeasy party tent. The tours are at your own leisure and will be available from 12-5. After 5, the Speakeasy tent will be fully active until 10:30pm. There are two options for tickets. Option 1: Basic ticket for the traditional home tour CAPA has historically organized. Walk the homes at your leisure. Option 2: Speakeasy ticket which, in addition to the tour, entitles you to a carefully crafted Speakeasy Cocktail* at each home (21 and over, ID required). Both ticket options provide access to the Speakeasy tent at the center of the tour that will showcase music, games, food by Mo Joes of Plainfield, and a cash bar (ID required at bar). The tent opens at 3pm if you finish your tour early and rolls all the way to 10:30pm with LIVE music after 5 pm. What if you cannot make the tour but you want to hang out in the Speakeasy tent after 5pm? That is cool too! Admission to the tent is free. Tickets are to be bought in advance and everyone will check in for your ticket type WRISTBAND before you begin your tour. Parking will be available at the University of St Francis parking lot with a short walk down to check-in so you can begin your stroll. Homes are are within a couple blocks on beautiful Buell avenue and the Housewalk tent on the corner of Buell and Whitney. Homes wil be clealy marked with maps available at checkin.
