Healing Hands is a collaboration between sculptor/filmmaker Laurie Blakely and four non-traditional healers from Southern Illinois. The film explores how to find grace and balance despite hardship, and how to cultivate a sense of gratitude and joy. Laurie casts the healers’ hands in clay and creates abstract sculptures around them. The film is 33 minutes long, and a brief, multi-media visualization exercise will follow for those who wish to participate. Healing Hands won Best Short Documentary at the Art Film Awards in May. On September 13, Healing Hands will make its national premier as a finalist at the Love International Film Festival in Los Angles. Over 900 films competed to enter the festival, and Healing Hands is one of five finalists in the short documentary category.
