Description

Course DescriptionThis is the follow-up course to the initial Arc Flash Hazard Awareness Training class, which is an NFPA 70E initial certification course. NFPA 70E requires that individuals be trained every 3 years once initial certification has been earned. This course provides renewal for that certification. This is an electrical safety training course using the latest standards, including OSHA 29 CFR Part 1910, IEEE 1584, NFPA 70E, and NFPA 70 (NEC). In this class, we focus on the updates to these standards since the initial certification was earned. Our goal is to reinforce the important topics covered in the initial certification course, including: • Regulatory updates with changes to the standards and safe work practices • Recent OSHA activities regarding enforcement of rules and guidelines that govern electrical safety in the workplace • Updated processes for identifying typical electrical hazards with a special focus on shock and arc flash, including how to perform a risk assessment for these identified hazards • Mitigation of typical electrical hazards, including hazard elimination as a priority in the implementation of electrically safe work practices • The importance of wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as the last line of defense to protect the worker Learners will be exposed to graphic examples of what can happen when electrical incidents occur, and they will leave with a healthy respect for electricity and its potential to cause harm. We will discuss some key steps that they can take to help protect themselves and others. At the conclusion of the course, learners will be expected to complete a test that must be passed with 100% to receive credit for the class. Note: This course is valid for up to 6 PDHs. Our TrainersThis class is taught by a member of our Safety Services Team who have an average of over 25 years of professional experience in workplace safety in industry and hold a variety of certifications and degrees. They specialize in transferring knowledge and skills through classroom instruction, web-based learning platforms, seminars, and on-the-job training programs.
