We are seeking to find a good place for our 2nd generation (this springs hatchlings) to be adopted. Our flock is compiled of Blue Faced Red Wyandotte Hens (moderate producers of medium brown eggs, excellent mothers, good in confinement or free range) & Copper Marans (raised for meat and eggs, moderate producers of brown eggs and dark chocolate colored eggs, good free-rangers)... we breed our original flock with an strong Americana Rooster and were blessed with a wild born, organically raised 2nd generation of youth to move on to another urban homesteading family. With this offer: You will receive one Rooster and a handful of hens all born this Spring. The hens have not yet begun laying eggs but should be by this fall / winter. All the birds have been free-ranged, fed ONLY organic grains, wild greens & healthy food scraps. In exchange: We will accept minimal re-homing donations for our conscious efforts and healthy raising of these birds from scratch. Perhaps $15-25 per would be appropriate. Again, we are asking that you are starting up from scratch and not already keeping an existing flock so they will not be bullied or have to compete with older chickens or other roosters. This is non-negotiable. We can deliver them if you are in ABQ or help you load them up from our location in South Downtown. We also have 4 young hatchlings that are about a month old that are also in need of homes. These are suspected to be cockerels, but we have not sexed them. We will NOT re-home them for fighting purposes! Please do not request to take them if that is your business with roosters. They can be raised as secondary roosters or breeding stock or meat birds.
