We are a small, family-owned sustainable farm in Tobaccoville, producing produce, meats and eggs. Food is distributed by us to restaurants, individual families, farmers markets and community outreach programs. We are currently interviewing for a farmhand position AND and driver position. This position may be combined and filled by one individual or filled separately. This is an opportunity to work for fair and friendly people to service the community in meaningful ways by growing and distributing sustainably raised food. FARMHAND: Strong work ethic, punctuality, ability to take instruction and respectful/positive attitude a must.tractor/yard machine experience preferred but not necessary. Applicant needs to be able to lift 50 lbs and be physically capable and be drug-free. Work will involve harvesting, processing, packing veggies, planting, greenhouse tasks, weeding, weed eating, setting up driptape, spraying, filling orders, lifting and moving cases of produce/meats, and other farm tasks as assigned. Some tractor or tiller work may be involved, prefer someone experienced with tractors or similar machinery and tools. Starting pay TBD based on experience ($11 hr to start minimum - more for tractor/machinery/tool experience). 3-4 days per week. There may also be an opportunity to work at Farmer's Market for right individual. Produce and eggs provided as part of farmhand compensation, meats are 50 percent off as well. DRIVER: clean driving record and at least 10 years driving experience preferred. Strong work ethic, punctuality, ability to take instruction and respectful/positive attitude, be drug-free, careful and attentive driving skills a must. Needs to be able to lift 50 lbs and be physically capable. Most items are moved by hand, so there is substantial lifting involved. Driver must be comfortable driving to Charlotte on Fridays to deliver to restaurants and homes. $14 an hour to start.
