On Friday, August 19th, attendees will gather for Black Joy and kick off the summit with a happy hour and film screening of the award-winning documentary, "The Sun Rises East," which chronicles the birth, rise and legacy of a youth-founded pan-African cultural organization that featured its own African-centered school, food co-op, newsmagazine, publisher, record label, restaurant, clothing shop and bookstore. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the directors, Cynthia and Tayo Giwa, co-founders of Black-Owned Brooklyn. This will be an evening to share, socialize, network, and give and receive joy. Enjoy a DJ, light refreshments and two free drink tickets! Register early because seats are limited.
