STOP BY ANYTIME on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 4th from 12:00 to 4:00 PM !Bring the whole family and meet The Caterpillar Lab as they set up a mini version of their own lab space, located in nearby Marlborough, New Hampshire. This drop-in event will feature a huge variety of New England caterpillars with plenty to see and touch! The Caterpillar Lab will have their very cool digital microscope and monitor on hand to take a close look at some of the caterpillars and insects that live at Distant Hill, like the tiny leaf miner caterpillars that feed inside of leaves! Stay for a few minutes or all afternoon; you and the kiddos are sure to see something new and exciting!REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED The Caterpillar Lab at Distant Hill and the 'Insect Tracking Walk' are happening in conjunction with an 'Open Garden Weekend'. Both events are free with your paid $10/adult entry to the gardens. A small leaf miner caterpillar made these tracks on this quaking aspen leaf. You'll get to see the caterpillar up close with the help of The Caterpillar Lab's digital microscope !And while you are at Distant HIll, why not join the free 'Insect Tracking Walk' happening the same day from 1-3 Naturalist Charley Eiseman, author of the book 'Tracks & Sign of Insects and Other Invertebrates', will lead a walk to look for signs of insects along Distant Hill Nature Trail. We'll bring some of what we find on the walk back to examine up close under The Caterpillar Lab's microscope! CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE about the Insect Tracking Walk and to Register
