Description
This day retreat is an invitation if you are seeking a full day immersion of the desert and what it has to offer mixed with self-care practices. When we take time out of our busy lives to pause and tend to our own garden, we are providing space to grow. We will practice nourishing movement, meditations, breathing exercises, yin yoga, and yoga nidra to attune yourself with nature and your own natural rhythm. Blisstopia Retreats property is within the beautiful views of Sunrise Mountain Preserve on a county island outside of Peoria, Arizona. The property has it’s own abundance of medicinal plants, pool, and relaxing environment. It is the perfect place to soak up summer’s sun while relaxing into a simpler way of life. Join Lana Royce, Carla Odegaard and Megan as your hosts and guides through this magical day of self-care. Go on a hike with Megan through the desert morning trail to identify and explore medicinal plants. Steep yourself in the profound yet simple ways of seasonal, local and nourishing meals. Practice a Yin Session and breathwork with Carla. Get some chill out time in the pool or just relaxing time to journal. Come full circle with a yoga nidra practice to discover and explore and tend to your garden. We welcome all levels of practitioners, and no prior knowledge of yoga or herbs is required. This is an immersion for anyone seeking connection with nature, oneself and community. Prepare for your retreat To get the most out of your retreat, consider letting your friends and family know that you’ll be unplugging for the day. Turn off notifications on your devices so you won’t get distracted while practicing. Plan on arriving at least 15 – 30 minutes early to settle in and not feel rushed. Bring your yoga mat, a towel, a water bottle and your swimsuit if you would like to take a dip in the pool. Keep a journal handy to write down any thoughts or inspirations that come to you. Morning Session 5:15am – 5:30am Arrive and BE 5:45am Climb to explore and discover - Summer mornings begin with a little bit of heat here in the desert already. Instead of a slow-moving morning, let’s ride that wave and get going right away with a short desert mountain hike and explore some of Arizona’s medicinal plants. 7:45am Seasons nourishment -In the Ayurvedic system, summer is a time of excessive Pitta (fire). While we want to enjoy the heat of summer, we don’t want it to overwhelm us and leave us feeling depleted. So today, we’ll focus on an Ayurveda-inspired breakfast or just a power shake if you so choose. 9am – 10:30am Yin yoga inspired practice and breathwork to cool and calm the body and the mind. The long holds in this session allow the stretches to excavate the layers of your muscles and ultimately access your body’s fascia: the connective tissue that’s in between your muscles and your bones. This is often where we hold deep-seated emotions and tension and Yin practice is one of the few ways to release them. 10:30am – 12:30pm Chill out time at the pool or just relax and journal or read. 12:30pm – 1:30pm Cool off organic lunch to fuel up with agni in mind now that you’ve spent the morning in full motion, you will probably have built up a good appetite. We will be here to nourish you and fuel your body with fresh organic fruits and vegetables and ancient grains to sustain you for the remainder of the day. Afternoon Session 1:30pm – 3pm You’ve certainly earned a rest! It’s an incredible feeling to dedicate an entire day to your practice. Allow the benefits of your work to soak in and take effect with a nice long Yoga Nidra practice and journal time. It is said that just a few minutes of deep Yoga Nidra can feel equivalent to hours of regular sleep. Time to lie back, relax, and find out for yourself. There is nothing like an entire day of practice to clear your head. Since you are likely experiencing a sense of openness from the retreat, now is a good time to reflect. Grab a journal and ask yourself what this discover and explore time of tending your garden means to you. What old patterns are you ready to let go of? What new habits would you like to begin? Farewell and gratitude circle to close the day retreat. Please note: Overnight on Friday, August 19th check-in 3pm and/or Saturday, August 20th check-out 11am on Sunday is available.
