Construction trades offer high-quality, high-paying, low-cost careers with opportunities for growth and skills that can't be shipped overseas. Yet, 80% of construction firms struggle to hire skilled tradespeople. Enter TradeUp! -- a nonprofit afterschool program seeking to inspire students to see the trades as a first-choice career, not a last-resort job. Under the guidance of volunteer craft professionals, middle school students learn real-world construction skills with hands-on projects in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and more. Ultimately, they complete the program with a better understanding of the full range of options available to them after high school. Checkout a recap of our last semester here.
