Suicide is a very traumatic event that has serious repercussions for its survivors and families of its victims. Did you know that every day approximately 132 people in the United States take their own lives? The number of people who attempt suicide each day, is much higher. Suicide is the tenth leading cause of death. Are you aware that 90 percent of people who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death? For all of these reasons, a group of local citizens have come together to form the Suicide Prevention Taskforce of Schuylkill County. We work together to educate our community through outreach, training and fundraising events. As one part of our efforts, we are holding the 9th Annual “Stomp Out Suicide” Event featuring - a walk, silent auction, Jeeps Against Suicide, bake sale, concession stand foods, children’s activities including record spin art, bee baths and Jeep painting, and live music entertainment by Twisted Ways. Community resource tables will also be present throughout the day. It will be held at Schuylkill Haven’s Island Park, 1 Broadway Street, Schuylkill Haven PA 17972 on Saturday September 17th, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. This event will be held RAIN or SHINE. Mental Health doesn’t care about the weather and neither do we. Would you please consider attending, or donating to support this important cause?
