JOB SUMMARY: The groundskeeper performs a wide variety of grounds and sports field maintenance throughout our 59 acre campus. They are responsible for the safe, proficient use and operation of equipment and tools to maintain a healthy, attractive and safe environment for the School. The groundskeeper follows established procedures and safety protocols and works as an integral part of the facilities team to support the educational mission of the School. Reports directly to the grounds supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision including mowing, weeding, trimming, irrigation, roof and gutter cleaning, hard surface maintenance and waste removal. Effectively and safely operate and maintain tools and equipment of the landscape trade including but not limited to tractors, mowers, dump truck, golf carts and snow removal equipment, trimmers, blowers. Monitor irrigation schedules and watering requirements and assist in the maintenance of irrigation systems Provide traffic support as assigned. Be particularly aware of personal safety, and the safety of other employees, students and guests in the performance of grounds tasks. Follow prescribed procedures when handling chemicals per Oregon schools Integrated Pest Management program. Be aware of maintenance needs throughout the campus, and complete work orders when repairs are necessary. Keep assigned areas clean, tidy and organized. Communicate any concerns or problems promptly to the Grounds supervisor. Drive motorized vehicle to transport materials around the campus and off campus. Perform other duties as needed or assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years’ experience in groundskeeping or related industry Knowledge of basic groundskeeping practices, materials, tool, chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures Ability to properly operate hand and power tools, machinery and other groundskeeping equipment Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions Able to understand and follow written and oral instructions Possess a valid driver license and have a driving record that meets school standards. Basic computer skills, ability to use email and basic applications, including digital time card Intercultural competence, ability to interact appropriately with persons of all backgrounds and identities, ability to work effectively on diverse teams Ability to pass and criminal background check, pre-employment, and random drug screens Documentation of Covid-19 vaccine or religious or medical exemption NOTE: OES takes the safety of our community very seriously. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: English sufficient to communicate with coworkers and work as part of a team Interpersonal skills, ability maintain respectful relations with colleagues PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to spend the majority of each workday outside lifting, pulling, carrying, standing or walking Ability to Lift up to 50 pounds on a routine basis and 90 pounds, with or without assistance, on an occasional basis Ability to climb ladders to a height of 20', and work on powered lifts to a height of 30 feet COMPENSATION: $21 to $25 per hour DOE, plus benefits HOW TO APPLY: Visit to learn more about OES.
