Description
Been a while since my last band and I'm hoping to get something going again. My last project was an 8-piece funk/soul group in Seattle that I led as the primary songwriter and band director of sorts (link for our EP, I wrote everything other than Crash and played guitar on all tracks: https://soundcloud.com/banditoftime/sets/gray-city-limit-demo). Here is an example of something I wrote for that band but recorded myself after it broke up, I'm playing all of the instruments and singing on there (https://soundcloud.com/banditoftime/elegy).
At this point, I would be content to play guitar or bass, sing lead or backup, whatever makes the most sense for the group. I'm 31, full time job, and I have a 1 year old daughter so I'm not in a position to rehearse 3 nights per week but would like any band to progress toward gigs and recording. Some influences for the type of group I'm shooting for are: Allen Stone, Leon Bridges, Lawrence, Leif Vollebekk, Tom Misch, Lake Street Dive, Theo Katzman, Joey Dosik, Anderson East, Arlo Parks, Lianne La Havas, I could keep going but that should give a decent picture.
My house has a dedicated music room that is big enough for probably a 4-piece comfortably, 5-6 with a squeeze. We also have a detached garage with plenty of outlets that can be used when the weather is decent. I have a small bop-jazz drum set (16in kick if not familiar), Korg SV1 keyboard, and multiple guitars/basses (both Fender jazz bass as well as an electric upright), plus microphones, recording software, etc. Happy to let anyone use my gear if it makes things easier. Let me know if you are interested and what you'd like to play in the project. At the end of the day, I just want to make music and have some fun. Thanks!
