There is one thing Republicans are very good at, it seems Republican office holders do a better job of blaming Democrats for lethal crime than actually reducing lethal crime. The top per capita murder rate states in 2020 were far from Democratic mayors and governors. Eight of the top 10 worst murder rate states voted for Trump in 2020. None of those eight has supported a Democrat for president sine 1998. Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Alabama and Missouri are the top 5 states you are most likely to get murdered in. These top 5 Republican controlled states have double the national average murder rate. The second set of 5 is New Mexico, Georgia, Arkansas, and Tennessee. New Mexico and Georgia were the only Biden voting states in the top 10 and they ranked 7th and eighth. It's interesting that these Republican controlled murder states do no generate "murder madness" in the national headlines. They seem to generate no headlines at all. Jacksonville, with a Republican mayor had 128 more murders in 2020 than San Francisco with a Democrate major, dispite their comparable population. The homicide rate in Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco was half that of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy's Bakersfield, a city with a Republican mayor that overwhelmingly voted for Trump. Were is the rage over these murderous Republican controlled city's. It's been found that the murder rates are, on average 40% higher in the 25 states Trump won in the last presidental election compared to those that voted for Joe Biden. The current narrative around crime and murder is convenient and wrong. Watching any cable news channel or news paper one would think that the high murder rate was a problem only found in liberal controlled cities. Republican lawmakers have contributed to this narrative through clever messagind and strategies. The data clearly tells a different story. Murder rates are significently higher in Republican, Trump voting states that havent even considered ideas like defunding the police... Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.
