Description
Hi. I am a 41 year old multi-instrumentalist (bass, keys, and guitar mostly), hobby musician looking for a new project. I'd be up for other ideas so if you've got something else started don't hesitate to reach out about that as well, but I'll throw this out there as an idea to get the ball rolling:
Member 1 - me, switching between the bass and the keys (mostly electric piano) from one song to the next
Member 2 - at a minimum plays guitar but could play keys as well while I am on bass, or play bass while I am on keys
Member 3 - drummer / percussionist free to mix up a drum set, bongos, etc as they see fit
I love to play the bass (upright and electric), but I also love to solo and as a listener I feel strongly that a bass solo should happen at most once, maybe twice per set if it's a long set, if it happens at all. I figure there will be some songs where I'm on bass and the guitarist takes all the solos, others where we trade solos with me carrying the bassline on the keys but the guitarists solos, then the guitarist uses and octave pedal to cover the bass while I solo, or if member #2 wants to switch from guitar to keys sometimes that would work too.
We could start by playing standards from the Real Book, but we could play other genres as well, as long as the vibe was to trade solos over progressions and/or to make it a new interpretation. We could play new material too if you have some written.
The goal would be to jam about once a week or once every other week, just for fun. You could convince me to play a show but that's not my motivation.
If that sounds good to you, or you have something else going on that you think I might be into, let me know!
I'm posting his on Friday afternoon but I am busy this weekend so if you reply please expect a response early next week.
