They know. They know they're lying. They know they're cheating. They know it's hurting peopl and the country. They don't care. They can only see that they can gain power over other people and show them. That they aren't a buch of ignorant hillbillies. That they get the apple they want. They've told themselves that they are good religious people. And that the ends justify the means. ( obviously haven't read The Book. Or didn't understand it.) Science has already proven that at least academically. They are around average in IQ. And are pretty good problem solvers. Until some of the parameters change during the problem Then they show a deeply marked inflexibility. And have to fall back on a failed logic at that point so it agrees with something they can understand right or wrong. This inflexibility is a trait shared by about a quarter of people world wide. Test have shown that it runs heavily in conservatives and far extremist on both sides. So they are that dense. You can't fix them. It's linked to their intellect The very thing you would have to appeal to to get them to understand their mistake. All of the causes of this phenomenon aren't fully understood at this time as you have to factor in a variety of things like. Social environment, ( peer pressure) Diet, region, genetics, religion etc. And since the initial findings the test have been run by a variety institutions under differing controlls. But over all the consensus remained pretty much the same. And it is only one of hundreds of tendencies humans have. It shows up greatly under these kinds of circumstances. IE. The civil war, the klan, the rise of Hitler, the unrest of the "60s" against the twist, elvis, long hair and beards, Rock and roll, the bikini, star trek etc. It appeares at this time we are not fully equipped to deal with the problem or fully understand it. It is possible since all species have limiting factors to keep them slowed down as it were. To prevent any one species from advancing to fast for the planet and other species around them. That this is a natural break as it were. And all things being equal would not be a problem over time. But like all things in nature. Not everything shows up at the most opportune or most advantageous time. Sometimes traits come out at the wrong time and cause great damage. By all signs this appeares to be one of them. How bad? Who knows. We can only see what its done in the past. And measure it against like factors in the present. Right now the general consensus is its very bad. It will lead to untold destruction.
