Description

Photography and Camera Basics Workshop Series This two-part series is designed specifically for those who have DSLR or mirrorless cameras and want to take better pictures but have no idea where to start. This series is also designed to help those who have some experience in photography, but don’t feel like they have mastered shooting in Manual or Priority Modes. Part 1: Camera Functions Part 1 of this two-part workshop series is designed to help participants demystify the complexity of their DSLR and mirrorless cameras so they can begin to use them with understanding and intent. Participants will be introduced to their camera’s symbols, buttons, and controls while also exploring the basics of the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO). This workshop includes a combination of lecture, live demonstration, and hands-on components. Participants will receive a detailed packet of notes for success beyond the classroom. Part 2: Understanding Exposure Part 2 of this two-part workshop series is geared towards helping participants further their understanding of the exposure triangle (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO) while also reinforcing the camera basics learned in Part 1. Emphasis is placed on a more in-depth understanding of how to set proper exposure while choosing settings that affect specific aesthetic elements such as a blurry background, motion blur, or freeze action. Participants will learn the when’s, why’s, and how’s necessary in creating excellent images. This workshop emphasizes lots of hands-on practice with some lecture and live demonstration as needed for concept reinforcement.
