Also known as belly chains, waist beads came into existence around the 15th century as a status symbol. They are worn for a range of purposes from beauty, health, and shape adoration. They are also thought to have some healing powers. We will create waist beads and learn the meaning behind different stones and colors. Materials provided by EcoWorks Creative Reuse Connecticut's only creative reuse center. Dinner provided by Global Local Gourmet and Haven's Harvest. Please follow all current covid protocols of the venue to attend. Masks are required in indoor spaces, up to date vaccination and maintenance of distance recommended. Nadine Nelson is a career educator, chef, artist, activist, and owner of Global Local Gourmet.
