The backwoods of South Carolina isn’t one’s first thought when it comes to a modern shock to the heart of rock n’ roll. Straight out of left field with an electrifying hybrid of hard rock, blues-punk, and 70’s garage rock, Seven Year Witch emerges with enough stage energy to feed a generation starved of real rock n’ roll. After years of performing under a different name, the group unveiled the Seven Year Witch title in 2018. The band’s reception exploded regionally, as they began to share the stage with the likes of Buckcherry, P.O.D, Tom Keifer’s Cinderella, Pop Evil, Adeltia’s Way and Crobot. With no big city fluff and proudly independent, Seven Year Witch continues to develop a cult-like following. The band frequents an east coast and Midwest circuit, all the way from Texas to Canada and anywhere in between. The group has been featured in South Carolina’s most notable festivals (Fall For Greenville, Spittoono, Melting Pot Music Fest) as well as a live performance on Cartoon Network’s [adultswim]. Having battled poverty and the scrutiny of rock n’ roll in the bible belt, Seven Year Witch has cut their teeth and made their own luck. ========= Forged in the heart of a Mississippi swamp, Magnolia Bayou’s sound is appropriately reminiscent of the golden age of Rock N Roll, and it is simultaneously flavored with a heavy, southern swagger that is distinctively theirs. Their bluesy aura can be traced back to the group’s origins, where they submerged and steeped themselves in their home state’s profound musical wealth; covering the likes of Robert Johnson, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Son House and so many more. Like their musical forefathers, the band spent three years blazing their way through juke joints along the Mississippi Blues trail, before independently recording their debut album in 2018. After its release, they spent the last three years extensively touring the surrounding south, traveling as far as the midwest and the pacific northeast. In that time, they’ve supported many acts such as Whiskey Myers, Wet Willie, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Fantastic Negrito, Tyler Childers, Ian Moore, Aaron Lewis, Bishop Gunn, Black Stone Cherry and most recently Buckcherry. Magnolia Bayou recorded their follow up album ‘Strange Place’ in 2019 at Natchez Sound Studio with Bishop Gunn’s very own Burne Sharp at the helm. The record is available everywhere. ========= JT McCaffrey, a native of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi has been a part of Live music scene in the state for awhile now. You can find him and his band, The Magnolia Miles, playing in venues and festival across the Southeast. His first single, “Stone,” was released back in December 2021.
