***AGES 18 AND OVER WITH PROPER ID // NO REFUNDS*** For over 3 decades now, The Great Cover Up has raised money for dozens of area charities with the help of a wide array of amazing local musicians. Each band or artist chooses a famous band or artist to become for one night only. Essentially, GCUP is a weekend filled with tribute acts, all performing mini-sets of approximately 20 minutes. Past highlights you ask? Whoa... far far too many have blown everyone's minds over the many years to do adequate justice here. But to give newcomers a quick taste... last year Elsinore morphed into Prince, The Bashful Youngens transformed into MGMT, and the Hogchute Collective became Sturgill Simpson (to name just a few). In addition to the smorgasbord of bands, GCUP has had many hosts over this long stretch of time as well.. Blind Pig Co., Mabel’s, Highdive, Cowboy Monkey, The Accord, Canopy Club, City Center. And now after 2+ years on the shelf due to a global pandemic, the event will reboot in a new home… the glorious Rose Bowl Tavern in downtown Urbana. Please join us now in 2022, be it for just a couple sets on one of the nights… or the whole kit-n-kaboodle over all three nights. Benefactors of this year’s event are PASTE PASTE.
