A lot has happened in Downtown Detroit in the last 100 years and you’ll learn all about it on this tour. Highlights include an overview of what was happening in Detroit in 1922, how Downtown developed at lightning speed then stalled during the Depression and WWII, the birth of the Civic Center, disinvestment and low occupancy rates, the beginning of the rebirth in 2000 and subsequent restoration of dozens of historic buildings and investment in unparalleled public spaces. Woven throughout this 100 years of history is DDP’s leadership role in creating the Downtown that exists today.
