Adam Clayton Powell near W 127th, New York City NY
Description
This year the African American Day Parade in Harlem, NY will take place on September 18th, and we are looking for a few good people to join the team.
Since 1969, the annual African American Day Parade has served as a cherished platform to celebrate African American accomplishments within five basic areas that strengthen the community: Business, Education, Health, Politics/Government, and Culture.
As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the sole mission of the AADP is highlighting African American culture, heritage and unity, showcasing the best and brightest of our community, and commemorating the legacy of our ancestors. This is one of the largest and oldest parades of African American culture.
We are looking for Volunteers, Interns and Mentors as:
- Event day Mentors and moderators
- Media crew members (photographers/ videographers) There will be press at the event but we want to make sure we are captured and represented in the right way.
- Book readers
- Basketball / Double Dutch / Sports leaders and coaches
- Greeters
Our next meeting will be held in Harlem next week (zoom participation is also an option), so please let me know if you, or anyone you know, are interested in supporting our mission.
