The Facilities and Property Management department is hiring a skilled tradesperson to perform journey-level maintenance and repair on machinery, operating equipment, and systems in PSU’s nine residential buildings such as water, HVAC, refrigeration units and boilers, generators, and more. Using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), they track and respond to preventive and reactive work requests while maintaining a high professional standard and building relationships with residents. This position works independently on a daily basis, prioritizing and completing tasks with minimal supervision, as well as often working cooperatively with other members of the department to achieve shared goals. The person in this position may be required to work after hours or on-call, including assisting with housing maintenance room turnovers and other building-related maintenance, as needed. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong sense of initiative and possess creative problem solving, communication, and customer service skills. They will have the ability to work safely in the presence of the public while maintaining a professional demeanor as well as a safe, orderly and clean worksite. They will be highly organized, collaborative, results-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. Facilities and Property Management (FPM) comprises approximately 80 full time and 60 student employees who work together to maintain over 5 million square feet in downtown Portland, and the Housing Maintenance team is a key element in the department.
