Help with Non-Starting Vehicle

Retired Gent. Have a 2013 Nissan Frontier Pickup. Good Condition vehicle with only 35,000 original miles on it. Just drive it locally to stores and such. But recently could not get it to start. Has a pinging sound when attempting to start but won’t turn over. Battery is little more than a year old. Tried to jump-start it but failed. Before towing to a shop, looking for someone auto-mechanically inclined/trained to look at it and help diagnose the problem. Maybe see if we can get the problem diagnosed and resolved. Ideally looking for someone knowledgeable in auto mechanics AND who has (or has access to) auto battery testing gages/equipment. Will provide $40 payment just for initial evaluation. Additional compensation provided for any additional work needed. Am in Johnson City near to Wilson Hospital.
