PLEASE HELP
I'm going to be homeless in a week and am desperately searching for a home for my dog Lenny.
He's a blue nose pit, I adopted him 2 years ago as a stray so he's around 4 years old, and also neutered. Lennys biggest issue is that he's dog reactive. I contacted my local humane society and they told me because of his dog aggression they would euthanize him if I surrendered him to them.
I'm devastated and couldn't live with myself if I left him to die like that. He's a great dog, he just doesn't like dogs he doesn't know, and needs to be the alpha. I think he also has some resource guarding, as most of his aggression stems from a toy or food my other dog wants.
He's lived with my other dog for two years, and has come a long way in his reactivity. I think it'd definitely be possible for him to live with another dog one day. He's very high energy and loves to play with my dog, and 90% of the time they get along great. He also didn't seem to mind my dad's very submissive dog.
I'm begging someone with some dog experience to please give this happy boy a chance at life. He loves all people, gets along great with cats and has so much to give.
He's potty trained, but has had accidents when I didn't let him out right away after work. I think he'd do great on a more constant schedule.
Someone with a fenced in yard, a long lead or even a place out in the country where he could run and get his energy out would be ideal. I live in a small apartment and don't have as much time to drain his energy as I should, which could also be playing into his reactivity.
Lenny doesn't deserve to die because he has triggers, so please please someone help me help him.
