Description

The award-winning and versatile Appalachian-folk-roots-fusion musician Ash Devine was born and raised in the Blue Ridge mountains of Blacksburg, VA. Known as one of the last ‘folk troubadours’, Devine performs originals, contemporary folk, Appalachian folk tunes, ballads, and roots music from the Southern Appalachian region and beyond. She plays a unique and complex finger-style ukulele and guitar emulating a number of styles such as the Carter scratch and country blues. In addition to producing several albums of original music and touring internationally for over 15 years, Ash has performed and studied alongside Nobel peace prize nominee Patch Adams M.D., Heritage award-winning ballad singer Sheila Kay Adams, Grammy award nominee David Holt, and a number of other renowned folklorists and internationally acclaimed musicians. In 2015, Devine starred as Maybelle Carter in the play "Esley: The Life and Music of Leslie Riddle". Her versatile Appalachian folk revival-fusion sound is bursting with stylistic variety, relatable stories, and historical facts about the origins of the songs that she carries. In addition to performing in traditional music venues, Devine facilitates music programs in a number of health care, nursing homes, community, and educational settings nationwide. Tickets are $12 per person, $60 for a reserved table, and free to Annual Passholders. Tickets can be purchased at the door or on our website: www.frontiermuseum.org.
