Description
Join your old classmates (pun unintended) for a fun-filled weekend for our 40th—year class reunion. Friday night, see old acquaintances either at the home Myers Park football game, Legion Brewery SouthPark, or both. On Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. come and tour your old stomping grounds, reminisce, and see all of the changes to the Myers Park campus. Saturday night is the big event where we all will celebrate our 40th reunion with dinner, dancing, and drinks. Hotel:For those needing hotel accommodations, we have negotiated a special rate with the Hilton Garden Inn Charlotte SouthPark. Make your reservations by September 2, 2022, to take advantage of the reduced rate. Call 1-800-Hiltons or follow this link www.hilton.com/en/.Project 658:The event venue Project 658 is generously matching the number of meals served for our event to people in the community that are in need. A little more info on Project 658, 1 in 6 Charlotteans live below the poverty line. 25% of all children under 18 live under the poverty line. 165,000 residents are food insecure (not knowing where their next meal will come from). 170,000 are uninsured. 1 in 4 women are victims of domestic violence. There are over 20,000 refugees struggling to start their lives over in Charlotte. Charlotte finished next to last in the country in terms of upward mobility. We are not okay with these statistics in our city. Because we know that these are not just numbers, they are real people and families. The 658 Center pulls together the incredible resources in our city with the goal of changing these lives of those in need. A person can walk into The 658 Center and be surrounded by an incredible team of ministry staff and skilled volunteers dedicated to aiding them in their journey away from poverty toward a life of stability, independence, and spiritual health.Imagine the difference that a one-stop destination makes to someone who is struggling to make ends meet or can barely speak English.Keep in mind MPHS Foundation:Our Mission: To enhance the educational experience of every MPHS student by expanding opportunity, addressing unmet needs & funding innovation.
