On Saturday, Aug. 27th, the Sleeping Octopus hosts Art JAM at 1300 Wood Street in Wilkinsburg. Doors open at 6 pm and close at 10pm. FREE & Family-Friendly event for all ages. Various musical activities and special arts activities geared toward children will be led by local artists and musicians between 6-8PM. Art JAM features artists from Wilkinsburg and around the region in an inspiring setting where artists create and refine their artwork while members of the public observe and engage with artists in action. Guests will get to engage with more than 20 artists demonstrating their talents: - Clay Sculpting - Wire Sculpting - Painting - Drawing - Garment Making - Body Painting - Performance Art. Featured artists include John Shook, Lauren Toohey, Crystal Flora, Nikki Pena, Phil Seth, Lisa Tabb, Mark Murzdak, and more to come! Musical Performers include - Jonas Pickering - Pittsburgh Old Time Appalachian Jam - and six dynamic singer-songwriters including Louie Castle and Donna O. Guests are invited to register for House Tours to view selections of the participating artists in the Sleeping Octopus. Multiple tour times are available throughout the event. Tours take 25 minutes, are free, and limited to the first 20 people who sign up for each time slot. Please register. Starting at nightfall, the evening comes to a close around the fire pit with the popular Drum Circle. Around 8:30PM, Dave Moy will offer a drumming lesson around the fire pit. Guests are encouraged to register. Donations are encouraged and help to support artists and future Art JAM events.
