Job Description The following is a list of essential job requirements. This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed. Job Functions and Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting Veterinarians and Licensed Veterinary Technicians. Handling and restraining pets for exams and procedures. Assist in the taking of x-rays Monitor and collect urine and fecal samples as needed Monitor, record, and report physical signs of hospitalized/boarded pets Responsible for cleaning/maintenance of hospital. Care of hospitalized/boarded pets as needed Fecal parasite sample collection and preparation Preparation of a prescription drug, other than a controlled substance, for dispensing Surgical assistance to a licensed veterinarian Qualifications At least one year of proven experience in the animal field is a plus High School Diploma/GED or equivalent Excellent listening and communication skills  Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions  Proven decision-making skills to choose the most appropriate course of action The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste Excellent phone etiquette and skills, including putting calls on hold, directing calls to voicemails, and taking messages down.
