Summary: A near north synagogue is seeking self-starting a part-time maintenance person for evening cleaning and maintenance duties. Some additional hours may be available for events and holidays. Hours: Up to 25 hours per week – 5 hours per day – Monday – Friday. FLEXIBILITY A MUST. This person should be available to work a flexible schedule, including working additional weekend shifts depending on the event schedule. Also, helpful is the individual is available for longer on the Jewish High Holy Days in the fall. Responsibilities: Sets up and breaks down events at the facilities as directed, moves materials, and performs related work as required. Maintains the building’s interiors/exteriors in a clean and orderly manner; empties waste receptacles; replenishes supplies; cleans floors and bathrooms; performs a variety of custodial and building maintenance duties as directed. Maintains and repairs building and building systems as needed. Asks for assistance when problems are too big. Experience working in a food service role in a kitchen is a PLUS. Position Requirements: Candidate must be able to perform a variety of manual tasks; follow oral and written directions in English; plan and complete assigned duties on a regular schedule; maintain good work relationships with others and can think ahead. Candidate should have some experience with events, janitorial, building maintenance and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
