To the miserable old turd that is trapping and abandoning/killing cats in the wilderness; You have every right to be irritated, and you have every right to trap any stray animal in your yard. The part where you are DEFINITELY misinformed concernes what happens to the trapped animal AFTER is under your (sadistic) control. You see, you are required not to mistreat or abuse ANY animal under MT state law, so no poisoning or cruel deaths allowed. It is ALSO against the law to abandon ANY animal in MT. You may even be getting the triple whammy if you are dumping animals in a national forest. My advice would be to trap any cat you have an issue with and call the police to pick them up. The owner will have to pay an "animal at large" fee to get them back. A few fines is enough to motivate most people, and the fines become higher and higher each time I believe. Now, I do ENTIRELY understand that this will likely fall of deaf ears. You seem to have made your mind up about how you are gonna clear the neighborhood of any freeroaming cats. So, I'll appeal to a different side of logic; you may be a miserable old pile of donkey crap, but trust me when I say this- there are WAY more miserable people with little to lose who will likely lose their minds if they find out you did something harmful to their cat. Honestly, it is only a matter of time before you are caught with traps or a trapped cat. When that happens, the entire town will find out who is responsible for all the missing cats, and they will react poorly, I can assure you. Seriously. You may think you have a foolproof plan for never getting caught. Let me guess, you sit and wait around all day/night for a successful capture, quickly hustle trapped cat into garage, and then sneak out in the late night/early AM? How hard do you think it is to set up a few trail cameras in a neighborhood and look for patterns? Hint- it's pretty damn cheap and easy, especially if you have a reasonably defined starting point. Do the right thing, not the abusive and sadistic thing. FFS
