Burn Design Lab, headquartered on Vashon Island, WA is offering a part-time entry level position to a clear thinking, well-organized, individual with a strong work ethic. BDL is looking for someone willing to work at least 20 hours per week to further the mission of Burn Design Lab. Burn Design Lab is a U.S. based internationally focused non-profit organization dedicated to the improvement of lives and the environment in the developing world through research, design, and development of outstanding cookstoves and cookstove manufacturing systems. The successful candidate will be engaged in some or all of the following:   Preparing wood and charcoal fuel supplies for cookstove testing.  Weighing particulate emissions sample filters using a precision balance.    Conducting selected cookstove and cookstove material tests.    Fulfilling a limited amount of janitorial duties (emptying trash, vacuuming, etc.)  Calibrating and maintaining laboratory systems, equipment, and instruments.  Completing additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of BDL. Experience Required experience and aptitudes:  High school degree or equivalent.  Strong organization skills and attention to detail  Eagerness to learn.  Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.  Strong work ethic. Desired experience and aptitudes  Some college education preferred.  Experience with collecting and organizing data.  Proficiency with MS Excel, PPT, and/or Word.  Table saw and miter saw experience *Please note that proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required to work at Burn Design Lab.* Start Date & Duration This position will start as soon as a suitable candidate is found. It is anticipated that this position will be at least 6 months in duration. Compensation This position pays $17.10/hour plus paid vacation and holiday time. Location This position is on-site at BDL laboratory on Vashon Island, state of Washington, U.S.A. Proof of authorization to work in the U.S.A. required. Preference given to Vashon residents.
