Job Location: S Wisconsin, Lake Geneva, Milwaukee (Must have reliable transportation, preferably a truck capable of hauling tools and supplies, company vehicle may be supplied for the right person)Carefree Boat Club is looking for an experienced, energetic mechanic to join our crew! If you love being outside, working on boats, and have an advanced knowledge of engines and technology, we want you to be on our team!We have a fun upbeat staff and are looking for someone who: Is a friendly, energetic person with a positive, can-do attitudeCompletes work orders in a timely fashion, while organizing necessary equipment and personalIs able to work weekends, evenings, early mornings, holidays in varying weather conditionsIs proficient with computers, smartphones, diagnostic softwareHas advanced experience with operating boats, local, mechanical, technical repairIs able to work year round activating boats launching and maintaining them through the summer, taking them out of the water, winterizing, and performing larger scale repairs and maintenance over the winter.Who we are & what we need! Whether you’re going out with friends, family, water skiing, or stopping on the river for a bite to eat, our team is ready to help you make memories!The Mechanic oversees all the vessels at 2 of our Wisconsin locations, and occasionally is required to make (paid) trips to Chicago to assist the mechanic there. They check and manage work orders in an online management system, order and inventory parts, complete preventative maintenance on 20+ boats (majority tritoon) and troubleshoot engine, drive, electrical, plumbing issues. Our member's boating and overall club experience is directly linked to our boats and their condition. Our promise to members is to keep the boats safe and with the best performance and low down-time. That promise is made possible with our experienced hardworking staff!Your responsibilities dockside and at storage facility include:Being a jack-of-all-trades: Troubleshoot, repair and install parts and accessories in boats including bilge pumps, charging, steering, engine, drive, electrical, plumbing systems, routine monthly oil changes, full engine tuneups, basic body work and fixes such as latch, gas struts, hinge, replacementsFollow work orders published on a vessel management software, update work orders, and input required maintenance, timing, notes for all vessels in the fleet. must be able to communicate issues effectively and put accurate time and cost estimates together for management. Should be proficient using additional phone apps such as scheduling, chat, weather apps.Perform diagnostics with Diacom/ other software to troubleshoot maintenance and repair of all types of gasoline marine engines: Outboards: Suzuki, Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, and I/O’s, Volvo Penta, Mercruiser. Additional basic knowledge of diesel engines required for our sailboat.Being present and vocal in team meetings and group chat to discuss repairs accomplished and needed, provide guidance, and troubleshoot issues with dock managers over the phoneHave, and maintain working relationship with local marinasExecute monthly safety and vessel inspection programs, ensuring that maintenance is up to date. completing required maintenance and coordinating repairs with our operations manager when boats need to be taken out of the water or are available for repairsStaying up to date with our vessels, capabilities, systems, amenities and equipment. Ensure that we have all necessary equipment and stock on hand to complete routine maintenance. Parts shall be researched and ordered through our wholesale providers by yourself with assistance from the Operations managerAbility to trailer and launch boats safely and in a timely manner, using a variety of trailer sizes, types, hitches. Clean driving record required. Fuel and maintenance paid for.Have knowledge and occasionally perform power/acid washes, shrink wrapping, detailing of vessels during winterization and activationBring your passion and expertiseMinimum of 5+ years successful mechanic experienceDemonstrated ability to set standards, stick to timelines, commit to work orders, and clean up after yourself and your work area21+ Years old with Valid drivers license AND towing/ launching experienceAbility to work full-time, year roundSufficient experience operating boats in tight waterways, in/out of slips, to perform maintenance test ridesExperience with power and hand tools and equipment needed to fulfill responsibilitiesCompensationYearly Salary commensurate with experience.We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
