K9 Nose Work is a fun activity for dogs of all ages, sizes, and levels of physical ability. The activity gives your dog the opportunity to use and develop their natural ability to detect odor. This course is a continuation of Intro to K9 Nose Work and Intro to Odor. Dogs will continue their introduction to the odor of birch in this class while continuing to build confidence and independence in searching. We will continue to pair odor with primary reward and slowly start rewarding externally.
For this class, each dog will have time in the building or exterior spaces alone to help build confidence and independence, which means the other dogs in the course will be outside or contained while a dog is working. There will be an informational email after registration that will go over logistics, safety, considerations for all weather conditions, and frequently asked questions.
This class will take place indoors and outdoors with appropriate social distancing. Each family group will be limited to two handlers maximum per dog, class is limited to 6 dogs total to accommodate. Masks will be required for the duration of the course.
Intermediate K9 Nose Work is taught by Aubrey Sperry, CDBC, CPDT-KA, ANWI.
