Backpacks for the Unsheltered is a community project organized by the High Point Jaycees created to support individuals in High Point who are in need. More than 500 people in the local area are currently experiencing homelessness, and our vision is to create opportunities to help. This silent art auction is a fundraiser to create backpacks filled with hygiene products, non-perishable food, water, and blankets. The event will feature work by local North Carolina artists from the ARC of High Point and those who participated in the recent “The Carolina Artist Mixer” event hosted by Tajia Lagomarsino and Terence Walker, and part of the proceeds will support these artists. This auction will be free and open to the public, and will take place on August 27th from 5-8PM. This will be a formal event & silent auction, where a portion of every piece of art sold will go towards funding the backpacks, a portion will be donated to the Gallery On Main to further arts events in the area, and a portion will directly support the artists. During the auction, enjoy live music, wine at the cash bar, and light hors d'oeuvres. Please bring donations for the backpack supplies (hygiene products, non-perishable food, water, and blankets), participate in the silent auction, and/or donate funds to directly support the project.
