ROYAL OAK, MI — The Detroit Zoo will host an after-hours bike tour through the Zoo for riders of all ages on Aug. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The Bike Safari trail will feature a variety of surfaces, such as uphill and downhill portions, and a slew of activities, including education stations, habitat chats, discounted carousel rides and much more.
New this year, riders will be able to park their bikes and explore Dinosauria, an immersive walk-through experience featuring 29 life-like animatronic dinosaurs.
"Bike Safari allows guests to explore the Zoo's 125 acres like never before," Detroit Zoo Vice President of Guest Services, Communications and Marketing Randi Hamilton said. "Not only is this a fun, family-friendly bike ride, but ticket sales directly support the DZS mission of providing excellent animal care and protecting the environment. Biking is a sustainable method of transportation that we are thrilled to support."
Guests must provide their own bike and helmet when attending Bike Safari. Motorized bicycles and foot traffic will not be permitted, though Electric Convenience Vehicles will be available for rent. All guests must wear a bike helmet while riding and fill out a consent waiver prior to participation.
Tickets to Bike Safari are $28 per adult and $24 per child or senior. For DZS members, tickets are $23 per adult and $19 per child or senior. To purchase tickets and learn more, visit detroitzoo.org/events.
