Two Great Dogs to a Great Home

Description

Seeking a fun, happy, loving home for our two dogs, Cody and Raya. Stressful work schedules and a potential move have moved us to this decision. This isn’t easy so we’re really hoping to find a great spot for them together. Raya: 13-month old spayed female, Australian Shephard/Silver Lab mix (DOB 6/17/2021). Extremely energetic and loves to run, though she does get tired in the heat quickly. Raya is a big goof ball and very clumsy. She always has a smile on her face and that brightens your day in an instant. She’s not fully aware of her size (about 60 lbs) and will own your lap or space in a heartbeat. She’s a cuddler but will also give you a run for your money in a game of tug-of-war. She loves to play keep away and be chased for something no one else wants. She walks great on a leash, only needing a slight leash correction, a reminder to “Walk Nice” and a treat…whenever she gets too excited. She knows basic commands (“Sit”, “Stay”, “No”, “Down”, “Walk”), still working on “Come” when called, and she just learned to “Shake.” Before Raya came to us in April, she was in a home with 2 young children (5 & 7) and attended doggie day care daily. She started day care @ 10 weeks old and always did great. As a result, she’s extremely social with both people and other dogs. She is a very well-rounded pup and I’m hoping she never loses that. She loves to chew so we keep her stocked with toys and bones. She’s still growing and even though she’s well-fed, she will often pick up and eat random things. Other than that, she’s a fantastic dog. Cody: 2.5 YO neutered male, American Cocker Spaniel (black/tan/fawn) (DOB 10/28/2019). Just like Raya, Cody loves to play, run around like crazy, and he LIVES to play fetch with his favorite ball. Cody is a “COVID pup” and did not have much socialization in his early days. For this reason, he is almost the exact opposite of Raya. Although he is a great dog, it takes him a bit to warm up to people and other dogs. He isn’t really a cuddler but will get close on HIS time when he’s ready (been this way since he was a puppy). He’s decent on a leash when walking but could use work as he likes to tug and walk you instead. A harness with a D-ring in front and walking with Raya has improved his manners. He's about 40-ish pounds and isn’t too much to handle, but he could use more leash training. If we are unable to re-home them together, he would do well in day care to meet dog friends, become more familiar with new people, and pick up a few more commands. He knows the same basics as Raya, but likes to do his own thing. Cody has always been with another dog since we brought him home @ 10 weeks, so he’s used to having a playmate at home. He would not do well as an only dog by himself as that seems to make him more nervous. Cody truly is a beautiful dog, a great companion, and he loves to be your shadow. Cody does well with children 5 and older…pretty much anyone who will throw his ball. Not sure he would do well with smaller children as he seems to get nervous around them. That said, he has never nipped at anyone. He may be a work in progress, but he’s the sweetest little guy. Cody and Raya are best friends and get along great. They can play pretty rough and beat up on each other, but it’s all in good fun. Our hope is we can find a home with a big yard, a couple of older kids to walk/run around with them, and lots of opportunities for adventure. That said, if you think Raya or Cody would be a good fit by themselves, either would do well in a family setting with lots of dog/people socialization. If one or both do not work out, we sincerely ask that we be contacted to come pick them up. We are hoping for a great place for them to live their best lives and be happy.
