TAMPA, FL — A 31-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a deadly overnight shooting at Campus Court Mobile Home Park Tuesday.
At about 10:30 p.m., Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies responded to mobile home park at 12407 N. 11th St., Tampa, after receiving reports of a shooting. Once on the scene, deputies found a man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to AdventHealth Tampa where he was pronounced dead.
Deputies said the man who shot the victim went back into his home with a woman and five children inside.
The sheriff's SWAT and crisis negotiation teams spent several hours urging him to come out of the home. The man, identified as Malcolm Hill, came out of the home peacefully just before 2:30 a.m. The woman and the five children were unharmed.
"I am so proud of the men and women who worked for hours overnight to bring this incident to a peaceful resolution," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Unfortunately, this is the second barricade subject situation we've been called to in the last 24 hours. While we don't yet know a motive for either of today's incidents, I want to urge anyone who may be suffering from any type of mental health issues to reach out for help. The holidays can be a difficult time, but you are not alone."
Hill was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
