Youth in Business (YiB) cultivates the entrepreneurial leadership skills of high school aged youth by providing hands-on experience operating an art-based business. Over the span of six weeks, 16 youth ages 14 to 21, participating youth went through the process of developing products from ideation to market, under the leadership of five program alumni mentors and one professional artist.
Powered by our core values of cooperative economic empowerment, personal and professional identity development, and youth voice, each team created a shirt around one of the following topics: Self-love & care, economic hardship, mental health, unity, and racial injustice. After conducting market research, youth used their personal experience to create designs centered around their stories and hope for the future.
