Description
CHARLESTON GREEN DRINKS: AUGUST 2022 ‘Climate Change | SURGE Magazine Release Party’ AUGUST 9 @ 6PM COMMONHOUSE ALEWORKS PARK CIRCLE / NORTH CHS This month is all about climate change and some of the folks working locally on climate action, including Charleston Climate Coalition – We will be celebrating the release of the 2nd edition of SURGE Magazine, the local print magazine published by the Charleston Climate Coalition. CCC will also be sharing info about their FUND THE CAP (Charleston Climate Action Plan) CAMPAIGN. “We have a great roadmap in the Charleston Climate Action Plan, so now let’s fight to ensure we make it happen! This budget cycle, we’ll be pushing for a host of items that we believe will make the CAP a success, such as more staff to support the Office of Sustainability, a tree audit, EV chargers, weatherization and home repair, and more. “ Charleston County Sustainability – Charleston County recently released its first Greenhouse Gas Inventory which establishes greenhouse gas emission levels for the County, County government, and the municipalities within the County. This inventory will be used as a starting point for planning and implementing actions to reduce these emissions. Charleston County’s Sustainability Coordinator, Arielle Gerstein, will be creating sector-specific workgroups and is looking for volunteers to brainstorm emissions reduction activities and how to implement those activities. Please stop by her table so you can learn more about the Greenhouse Gas Inventory and how to be involved in upcoming Climate Action planning! The brief intros will be followed by tabling time and open networking, giving us all the chance to both dig deeper into the issues and better connect with one another. ******** If you would like us to share any announcements the event, please let us know in advance ([email protected]) ******** If you would like a chance to set up a table to make plastics-related information accessible to folks, please let us know ([email protected]) ******** The CGD steering committee will be meeting at Commonhouse Aleworks from 5pm-6pm and we are encouraging other environmental groups to consider scheduling their own meetings/gatherings on site in a similar way. It’s a chance to get out of the office early, beat the traffic, and maybe create some synergistic energy in the process *********************** We hope you all can join us for this month’s edition of Charleston Green Drinks!
