Narcissists are usually quite adept at covering their tracks when they have a new source of supply. They don't care about how you feel, but they do care about keeping a foot in the door and maintaining access to an old source of supply. What happens when narcissist meets a new supply how they treat the old supply? The narcissist is desperate and will do anything to ensure their supply is refilled because that is their means of survival. They ensure their supply is refilled by treating this new person as if they are special, because that is what draws them in. All communication with the narcissistic mate will be with omissions and lies. You will be replaced when they are bored with you. When you expect more then they will ever give to you. During all the love bombing on you, the old supply is still in picture. When speaking of old supply they will paint a picture of disgust and hate towards this person. If your narcissist has found a better, newer source of supply, then you mean nothing to them and are treated with contempt or completely ignored.
