(google map) WANTED: Keyboard Player - Provide piano, organ, horns, strings, syth, etc. - Lead or backup vocals, rhythm guitar, bass guitar a plus To join the following players in established band "The Flaming Iguanas": - Lead/Backup Vocalist - Lead Guitarist and Lead/Backup Vocalist - Bass Guitarist and Backup/Lead Vocalist - Drummer and Lead/Backup Vocalist GOALS: 1) Be the best cover band in the Detroit/Lansing Metro area! 2) Perform songs rooted in Classic Rock with great song diversity: - Classic Rock (including iconic rock songs) - Pop - Motown - Disco - Country and Western - British Invasion - Ballads - Oldies (50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's) - Newbies (00's, 10's, 20's) - Client Requests 3) Perform at diverse venues: - Community Festivals - Casinos - Corporate Parties - Private Parties - Weddings - Bar and Grill 4) Utilize professional equipment and stage show appearance - We use QSC TouchMix-30 Pro digital mixer; JBL mains, subs, monitors and stands; Mogami gold cabling; Shure mics; Chauvet lighting / stands and band mascot banner - Lead guitarist player uses Fender Telecaster guitar and Fender / Vox amplifiers - Bass player uses Rickenbacker 4001V63 guitar and Ampeg bass rig; C.F. Martin HD-28 acoustic guitar when required - Drummer utilizes every drum and percussion instrument on the planet - Ensure "Wow!" factor with audience - Chase perfection and catch excellence 5) Long-term consistent bandmate membership 6) Rehearse once per week – currently Sunday evening 7) Gig out one to two times per month – more or less 8) Have fun! BAND MEMBER REQUIREMENTS: - No Drugs! - Minimal Alcoholic Drinking! - No Egos ("I want to be a rock star")! - Be a good person - Full control of any Mental or Emotional issues - Develop professional relationship as a band mate; develop personal relationship as a friend - Professional equipment expected - keyboard(s), monitor, microphone, stands, cables - Split all performance fees equally - Consider equal financial burden between all bandmates for gas/mileage to/from rehearsal and gigs REHEARSAL SPACE: - Five miles north of Ann Arbor (easy access off US-23 and North Territorial Rd.) - Drive up to and park next to walkout basement door (easy equipment ingress and egress) - Great space, lighting, heat and A/C - Chairs and couch to sit a spell - Small refrigerator for cold drinks - PA and power ready to plug into - Headphone splitter/amp utilized to listen/play to original recording REHEARSAL GUIDELINES: - Respect - Everyone's opinion counts - Politeness - One person speaks at a time; limit "side-bars" or instrument "noodling" - Openness - Establish a sincere and trusting environment - Objectiveness - Accept and provide constructive criticism - Courtesy - Don't use other people's gear without express permission - Reliability - Commit to a rehearsal schedule - Preparation – Songs are not learned at Rehearsal; Practice is individual; Rehearsal is as a band - Focus - The song starts via the drum stick count or other as appropriate - Teamwork - Song structure and timing is important and makes for a tight band - Expectations - A note, beat or lyric "clam" will occur; don't sweat the small stuff - Excellence - Chase perfection and catch excellence - Cleanliness - Leave the rehearsal as clean as you found it - Enjoyment - Have fun! BAND SURVIVAL GUIDELINES: Commitment - You align with the band's goals ('align' is different than 'agree') - You're either fully in or you're fully out, no part-timer's - Respect for family, work, other hobbies, other musical projects, etc. Communication - Utilize email, text messaging and calls on your cell phone - Utilize 'Dropbox' for all band documentation - Utilize band calendar - Inform other band mates of your status ASAP - Confirm rehearsal attendance if at a unique time/day - Ensure availability of comprehensive contact info - Over communicate to ensure robust information flow Chemistry - Fragility exists... don't break the egg shell - Be respectful, objective and accept constructive criticism - Practice emotional resilience - Get along with your fellow band mates - Enjoy diverse personalities and experiences - Have fun!
