Here are the top stories today in Huntsville: Three UAH buildings and the entire Calhoun Huntsville and Decatur campuses were evacuated yesterday due to a bomb threat. Several higher-education entities across the state received bomb threats. Both local schools worked with law enforcement to determine there was no risk to the campuses were able to return to normal operations within hours. (Fox 54)A UAH professor was awarded a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for a three-year research study. Dr. Shanhu Lee is studying ultrafine particles that might turn into clouds in urban areas. She hopes to learn about pollution in those particles as well as provide data on changing climates. (Patch Press Release Desk)Drake State received a $2.4 million federal grant that will help minority communities access high-speed internet. They plan to use the funds to provide a laptop with broadband access to each student. They will also be wireless broadband kits for qualifying families that live within 15 miles of the campus. Governor Ivey was in attendance at the ceremony to cut the ribbon on the unique greenhouse that is the only one in the United States.
