Woburn Cadets Graduate Middlesex County Sheriff's Youth Academy

WOBURN — Woburn cadets were among the graduates of the Middlesex County Sheriff's Youth Public Safety Academy last week, joining other graduates from Billerica, Lowell and Wilmington in a ceremony on Friday. Boston FBI Special Agent in Charge Joe Bonavolonta paid a visit to the program to speak the graduation. "After two years of remote programming, we are proud to welcome cadets, their families and our community partners back to YPSA," Sheriff Peter Koutoujian said of the youth academy in a press release earlier this summer. The youth academy dates back to 1999. It aims to teach participating children in Middlesex County about public safety, including lessons on internet safety as well as fire preparedness and prevention, among other things. Anyone ages eight to 12 in Middlesex County can participate. The program also offers a counselor-in-training program for older participants.
