Description
Come join us at Kindness Farm for a connective evening with the Plant People, and with Self. For our first Slowing Down for Justice session, we’ll be gathering in community to dive inside: into our felt/sense places and patternings around prejudice, by tapping into our natural interdependence with plants. We’ll practice sitting in our discomfort, fears, joys, and sorrows that live inside our bodies, and along our own personal anti-oppressive journeys. Using meditation along with a medicinal herb, we’ll be guided together along a journey of deeper self discovery relating not only to our connection to the Earth, but our connection–and disconnection–to/from each other. Kura will be your guide, but everyone will be an expert. They will be utilizing reflective questions, meditation, breathing, and emergent moments of learning and sharing. We will be digesting the experiences we have through journaling, art, and movement. Please bring any mediums and practices for integration and metabolization of the experiences we will share. This could be materials for drawing, coloring, clay play, stretching/yoga/body movements, rocking, swaying, and any other practices and materials that will assist you in this space. This is a space where vulnerability will be encouraged. *The farm will provide paints, and wood if you so choose. Kura will strive to create a safer container for this work. If you identify as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color (Or, as Resmaa Menakem says: Body of Culture), please feel free to reach out to Kura and let them know if you would like to be in affinity with other Bodies of Culture when we do group shares after the meditations. Suggestions for being in this space of plant and body consciousness with others: *Listening first to understand, believe and reflect. Pause on responding. *Use “I” statements when speaking. Share your own experiences. *Disagreements, frustrations and disagreements are acknowledged, explored and addressed. *Healthy feedback loops are an act of accountability, vulnerability and love. Be open to receiving, getting curious and potentially integrating feedback. *Be mindful about the space you take up, or don’t take up. *There is no safe space. We will do our best to cultivate a safer container for everyone. *Take care of yourself. If you need to pause, move away from the group, or take a bio break, please do so. *Vulnerability and confidentiality go hand in hand. What’s said here, stays here. *Please consider your content before sharing. If you are unsure if the content you have to share might be activating or could compound trauma for others, please speak privately with Kura.
