Description

Night Out for Safety and Liberation (NOSL) is an annual event that takes place on the first Tuesday of August where we redefine and reimagine what safety means for our communities. Shifting away from fear, punishment, and criminalization and towards building power relationships and creating true safety in our communities, #WeKeepUsSafe Our Night Out for Safety and Liberation will be on August 2 from 4pm-8pm at the Black & Beyond the Binary Collective office. Here's the agenda for the evening: 4:00 pm - 4:15 pm: Welcome, Black National Anthem, Land & Labor Acknowledgement 4:45 pm - 6:00 pm: Tabling, Food and DJ Set 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm: Speakers 6:30 pm - 7:50 pm: Live Performances 7:50 pm - 8:00 pm: Close– The goals of this event are (1) to start discussions around public safety and community care; (2) to provide community resources and mutual aid assistance to our neighbors; and (3) to provide a platform for local organizations working for our community. This event is for the whole family. ALL ARE WELL COME! We will have a designated children's area to provide age-appropriate conversations while the adults have their own discussion groups. Oregon Covid numbers are on the rise! We prioritize public safety and care for our most at-risk partners; therefore, we require those wear a mask during the event and taking a Covid test 24-48 hours before the event. There will be a designated space for eating and drinking where masked can be removed. We will provide masks, sanitizer, and tests. If you need a test before the event or have other accessibility questions, please email [email protected] Everything at our event will be free and open to the public. We affirm the principles of mutual aid and are working together in solidarity, not charity, to support our neighbors.
